Alan C. Siebels
September 12, 1960 - April 21, 2022

Alan Craig Siebels, age 61, of Montclair, New Jersey passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2022.

Alan was born on September 12, 1960, to Gerald F. Siebels and Virginia F. Siebels (Nelson) and was raised on the family farm outside of Minden, Iowa home to siblings, dogs, cats, horses, pigs, cows and angry chickens. He graduated from Tri-Center High School and the University of Iowa with a Business Administration Finance degree.

Although devoted to Iowa, he decided to move to Manhattan in the early 1980s and resided in what was a decidedly shady neighborhood called Hell's Kitchen. He began a career in the retail sector and finished his career as Vice President/Controller at Aeropostale.

Alan was an avid sports fan including hockey, baseball, golf, and basketball especially University of Iowa Hawkeyes and the Rangers. He was a crack shot, mean card player and could hold his own at the pool table. He loved to play chess and cribbage (not sure why). In addition, he loved to do the New York Times crossword puzzles. He enjoyed travel and was particularly in love with international adventures (South Africa and Machu Picchu were favorites).

Alan was preceded in death by his father Gerald F. Siebels and mother Virginia F. Siebels (Nelson), and his brother Thomas G. Siebels.

Alan is survived by four siblings: Pamela C Siebels (Walter Panek) of Sherman, CT, John J Siebels (Austin, TX), Susan K Siebels (Claude D Davis) of Earlysville, VA, Diane F Siebels (Donald Kimpel) of Charlottesville, VA, and sister-in-law Carolyn Siebels of Minden, IA. In addition, Alan is survived by nephews Hudson Panek, Jared Siebels, and Matthew Kimpel and nieces Carly Siebels and Megan Kimpel; and great-nephew Wade Siebels.

He never forgot where he came from and carried many of the values of that small town life with him for all his life. He maintained lifelong friendships with people from Minden (and a few from Persia) as well as a new circle of friends on the Eastern seaboard.

Celebration of Life in New Jersey on 15 May 2022 and in Iowa at a future date.
