Mildred graduated from Dan River High School. She worked at American National Bank & Trust. She retired after 50 years of service. A flag pole was dedicated in her honor. She was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church. She and Sonny also enjoyed traveling across the United States and Canada with the Scott Tour group. She and Sonny were members of the Southern Squares, attending numerous national conventions and were once seen on the National network news dancing.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura W. Whitt (C. Keister); a sister, Frances "Tillie" B. Long (Larry); two granddaughters, Abby W. Chaney (Alan) and Leah W. Jarvis (Kevin); and two great-grandsons. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Virginia B. Emerson and a brother, Calvin T. Boyd.
Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
