Mrs. CD Shackleford Dies Wednesday At Hinton; Rites 16th
Funeral services for Mrs Clarence D. Shackleford were held Saturday afternoon
at the Church of Christ in Hobart with Walter Teal in charge. Burial was made
in the Hobart cemetery under direction of the Gish funeral home.
Mary Edna Shackleford was born May 3, 1883 in Decator, Texas and died
Wednesday morning, Dec. 13. at a Hinton hospital at the age of 61 years, 7
months and 10 days. She was married to Clarence D. Shackleford August 18, 1901.
The family has lived a mile southwest of town the past several years.
Survivors include her husband; six sons, Alfred Floyd and Ray of Carnegie;
Leonard in Italy and Melvin in New Guinea and Olen D. of Fort Worth; and three
daughters, Mrs. Julia Edens of Snyder, Mrs. Clara Lucas of Alfalfa and Agnes
Shackleford of Carnegie. Four brothers, Joe Poindexter of Elmore City, John
Poindexter of Wilson, Texas, Robert Poindexter of Portales, New Mexico and
Willie Poindexter of Nogal, New Mexico, and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Casby of
Portales, New Mexico and Mrs. Susie DeShazo of Mountain Park, also survive.
