Jerry Wendel Yancey, husband of Linda Lacks Yancey, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the age of 87. Born in Mecklenburg County on September 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Annie Williamson Yancey. Jerry worked as a supervisor at Climate Control. He enjoyed camping at bluegrass festivals with his wife and attending antique car shows. Jerry was a lifelong charter member of the Aarons Creek Ruritan Club and a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by sons, Charles Dewey Yancey (Victoria) of Buffalo Junction and Wendel Scott Yancey of Virgilina; grandchildren, Renae, Amanda, Austin, Hannah, Katelyn, Savannah, Chyanne; four great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Puckett (Dicky) of Oxford and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Dakota Yancey and sister, Joyce Johnson.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 3 at Aarons Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Robert Pruitt will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church before the service beginning at 12 noon.
