ALEXANDRIA ~ Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at a 11:00 a.m. Liturgy of the Word in Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas Chapel for Claude Lawrence Guidry, age 91, who passed away Friday, April 29, 2022 at his residence in Alexandria.

Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Deacon Dwayne Joubert of St. Landry Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Guidry was a native of Cankton, a resident of Opelousas for about 10 years and a resident of Alexandria since 1957. He was an assistant golf pro at Alexandria Gold and Country Club for 20 years. He also retired in 1996 from Alexandria Coca-Cola Bottling Company for over 19 years. Mr. Gudiry was a veteran of the United States Army, having proudly served his country during the Korean War.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Paul Guidry and his wife, Rebecca, of Woodworth; two daughters, Karen Ann Guidry and Debra Marie Wilson, all of Woodworth; three grandchildren, Christopher Guidry, Jason Wilson and his wife, Rebekah, and Jeremy Guidry and his wife, Valarie; three great grandchildren, Alexis Theford and her husband, Dolton, Kaden Wilson and Brady Wilson; and one great-great grandchild, Harper Thetford.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Thelma Castille Guidry; his parents, Andre Guidry and the former Louise Guilbeau; four brothers, Milton Guidry, Sr., Ewell James Guidry, Haywood Guidry and Lee Ray Guidry; five sisters, Elta G. Hebert, Anna Mae G. Guidry, Deanna G. Duplantis, Syble G. Cahanin and Birdie G. Boyd; and one grandchild, Amber Hastings.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.Claude L. Guidry
