She was a Pioneer of the 1847 Captain James Curl Wagon Train from Missouri to Oregon. This is true. So were 3 other people closely related to her who were also on that wagon train:

  1. Husband: Thomas Lucas Burbank (1816-1868) Married 2/20/1843
  2. Their son: James Thomas Burbank (1845-1918)
  3. William Thomas "Uncle Billy" Allphin (1797-1876) Married 11/4/1875

Someone wrote these comments as they were frustrated. I have tried to post correct answers:

*We don't know who her parents were. JAMES D. DAVIS & LOVICY LAWRENCE--Both born in KY.

*We think she was born or at least lived in MO before 1847 when her wagon train left for Oregon. No, she was born: 7/15/1827 in INDIANA. The wagon train she was on departed out of the St. Joseph area, Missouri on the James Curl Wagon Train of 1847.

*We think she was married to Thomas Lucas BURBANK b. 9/6/1816--OHIO to 9/14/1868--Sacramento and that they had a son: James Thomas Burbank 1845-1918. YES. Their son was born in IL 1845 and died 9/1/1918 in Corvallis, Benton Co. Oregon. They were married 2/20/1843--Correct. Father: Thomas Lucas Burbank was born in 1816 in OHIO. D. 9/14/1868 Sacramento, CA area.

*He had a sister named Sarah Jane Burbank 1852-1901--NO. This is where you went wrong!!! Thomas Lucas Burbank had 2 sisters: Martha Emily (Williams) 1810-1854 and Lavilla T. 1825 to 1884 NO sister by that name! Please note the confusion/correction: Sarah Jane Burbank of 1852-1901 was their daughter born after they came to Oregon in 1847.

*The mother: Sarah Jane Davis Burbank was married on 11/4/1875 to William Thomas Allphin 1797-1876 in Linn Co. Oregon He died 10/7/1876. Then her name changed to Sarah Jane Burbank Allphin.

*We see a possible 11/16/1918 death for her in Independence, Polk County, Oregon but we also see one noted for 1901--that date is in error. She was on the 1900 and 1910 Oregon Census with her son. Earlier in Wheeler Co. OR and last in Wasco Co. OR. Notes from the Oregon Secretary of State Archives show she is buried at the Hilltop Cemetery--IOOF section--Independence, Polk Co. Oregon.

*She, her husband and son were on the 1847 James Curl wagon train to Oregon. YES. So was William Thomas "Uncle Billy" Allphin. (I have been researching this for a long time as the Allphins are related to me.) Thomas Lucas Burbank's parents were Thomas McMasters Burbank and Elizabeth Williams Lucas both died and buried in Polk Co. Oregon at the Burch Pioneer Cemetery. Pretty impressive family, Burbanks. All came on that 1847 wagon train. Burbanks to Polk Co. and Allphins to Linn Co., Oregon.

I hope this clears things up!
