SHADY DALE -- Services for Joe Barrow, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shady Dale Baptist Church with the Rev. John Sconce officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.
Barrow was born Feb. 14, 1923, at McKinney, Texas, to Frank and Jennie Hamelton Barrow. He died Feb. 16, 2000, in the Ardmore hospital.
He served in the Army during World War II and was a retired heavy machine operator. He married Sarah Ross Sept. 15, 1948, in Collin County, Texas, and lived in Arlington, Texas, and California before moving to Marietta 20 years ago. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry; five brothers, Rachel, Pete, Ed, Jackie and John; and two sisters, Geneva Nard and Bertie Wooldridge.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Marcia Bolander, Kansas City, Kan.; four sisters, Betty Mundy, Fort Worth, Texas, Bobbie Parks, Dorothy Wilson and Frankie Parlier, Chandler, Texas; a grandchild; and five great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Randy Putman, Tommy Mayes, Waylon, Joe, Bill and W.T. Ross. Honorary bearers are Sam and Debbie Cain, Larry, Rise and Eric Ferguson.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at Kennedy Funeral Home.
