John William Spiering, 49, died unexpectedly Jan. 2, 2008, in Louisiana, where he was employed in pipeline construction. He was not at work when he passed away. Born April 29, 1958, John was also known to friends and family as 'Big John' or 'Animale.' He worked most of his life long-haul trucking and in pipeline construction. John enjoyed four-wheeling, fishing and hunting, watching movies and spending time with family and friends. John was preceded in death by his mother, Clarabell Spiering of Superior. John is survived by his father, Gerald Spiering; older brother, James (Linda); niece, Amy; nephew, Brian; and sister, Nancy, all of Superior. John's immediate family consists of daughter, Sarah, Superior, and son, Shawn (Sara), and grandson, Brent, of St. James, Minn. Shawn also works in pipeline construction. John really liked spending time playing with his grandson, Brent. He also enjoyed his good friends, Rodney and Cindy Anderson and Taz. Because of time and family constraints, John will be cremated and the memorial service will be held later in the spring. An announcement follows at a future date.
