Parents: John Magnus and Mary Berglin

As a young man, Johnny "Swede" Berglin was a star athlete at Berthoud High School. He was captain and star player of the basketball team and a member of the 6-man football team. He was prominent in other school activities including choir, drama and student council. As an exceptional student he was named Outstanding Senior and was awarded the Joint Honor Scholarship. After high school John attended Colorado A&M where he met his first wife Ruth Tilger. Married in Springer, New Mexico in 1952, the couple had a son Robert (Bob) Berglin in 1953. In 1973, John married Lela Marie Briley (Sears) of Rexford, Kansas. After marrying, John and Lela purchased a home in Lakewood, Colorado where they resided together until shortly before his death.

John worked for Public Service of Colorado for over 30 years. After retiring, John and Lela traveled and spent many hours gardening and relaxing together. John was an avid craftsman, he often spent countless hours woodworking in his "Doghouse". Over the years, he crafted many beautiful pieces that adorned his home or were given as gifts. With a perpetual sense of curiosity, John liked to tinker with the latest innovations in electronics. Whether he was studying a gadget or creating his own, he was always inquisitive. John was a devoted Denver Broncos fan. Early in their marriage, John and Lela became season tickets holders. They cheered the Broncos on from their stadium seats well into their 70's.

John is survived by his loving wife Lela, sister Jane Berglin, son Bob, stepsons Steve (Vickie) and Russ, grandchildren Kellie (Peter), Chris, Dustin, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by two of his three sisters, Roberta Allen and Joan Goodman.
