Don Florian Seifert, age 86 of Mountain, WI, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 after a cardiac arrest while on vacation in Florida with his family. Don was born on June 28, 1935 to the late Norman and Helen (Dreifuerst) Seifert in Milwaukee, WI.


In 1957, Don married Barbara Pape and they were married for 62 loving years.


Don was the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a loving and patient man who was always willing to help his family and friends.

His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his shadow, always wanting to spend time with him whether they were fishing or hiking in the woods.


Don worked as a firefighter in Milwaukee for 31 years before retiring and the couple then moved to Mountain permanently in 1993 to live out the rest of their lives in their beautiful home on the lake.

After moving, Don volunteered for the Riverview Fire Department and served as the chief for many years.


Don served his country in the United States Marines and was a member of the Wabeno American Legion Sylvan Post 44, serving on the honor guard. Don was very active in his community, volunteering for the Lions Club, the Wabeno Logging Camp, and the Lake John fish hatchery.

In 2015, Don was named the Volunteer of the Year by the Oconto County Historical Society. Don enjoyed playing card games, hunting, fishing, and gardening.


Don is survived by his 2 children: Michael (Tess Davis) Seifert and Debbie (Jim) Denhardt;

4 grandchildren: Michael Seifert, Jason (Cassandra Rupcic) Seifert, Josh (Amber) Denhardt, and Rich Denhardt;

8 great-grandchildren;

sister, MaryEllen (Bill) Greiten;

brother, Rick (Jewel) Seifert;

sisters-in-law, JoEllen Seifert and Sharon Seifert;

son-in-law, Steven Schelk.

He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his wife Barb;

daughter Cynthia Seifert;

brothers: Gene Seifert and Paul Seifert.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring from 11 am until the memorial service at 1 pm with Pastor Bill Krauss officiating. Don will be interred at Mountain Cemetery beside his wife. Full military honors will be performed at Mountain Cemetery by the Wabeno American Legion Sylvan Post 44.
