Aged Citizen Of This Place Died On Sunday
Mr. William A. Burden died at 4 a.m. Sunday at his home in this place after a long period of ill health, resulting in his being confined to his room for many months previous to his passing from life. He was 81 years of age, was a devoted member of the Baptist church and was a regular attendant upon its services as long as his health permitted.
The funeral service was held from the church at 3 p. m. Monday by the pastor of the deceased, Rev. W. E. Lockler, assisted by Rev. H. H. Ellis, and interment was in the cemetery of this city. Many friends and relatives were gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of this good man.
Mr. Burden had been a life-long resident of this section. He is survived by his wife and three children Mrs. Jack Martin, of Roanoke; Mrs. C. G. Logan, of New York; Mr. Robert Burden, of Monroe, La.
