Mr. Ray Davis, age 71 of Sandersville, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at a Savannah area hospital following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville, with burial to follow in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Bobby Williford will officiate. Pallbearers will be David Newsome, Ben Wheeler, Dallas Randolph, Dylan Randolph, Shane Davis and Eric Davis.

Mr. Davis was the son of the late William Thomas "W.T." Davis, Jr. and the late Sybil Hayes Davis. He spent most of his life in the trucking industry and loved being a truck driver. Ray found much enjoyment in fishing, riding motorcycles in his younger years, working on vehicles, buying various items, even if he never got around to using them, and watching Westerns. He also liked "cutting up" with those he loved. Ray was a wonderful dad to his children. In addition to his parents, Ray is proceeded in death by his wife, Dale Lanthrip Davis, and his brother Troy Davis.
