In May 1996 Callie wondered into our yard one day with three tiny kittens in tow. The kittens were playing with leaves in our back yard. How I wish we could have kept them but we already had a cat who, at the time, needed to be the only cat. It wouldn't have been fair to Sassy. We fixed a place for them in the shed, gave them a blanket to lay on, clean water, and food each day. I loved them. Since I knew we couldn't keep them I gave them nicknames instead of proper names. The first one to come out and show his face to me was The Brave One. The other two were White Foot and The Yellow Dude. Callie was a very loving and caring mother. How I wish we could have kept her.

In June we had to leave the country for a week. There was no one to care for them. A trusted vet took them all in and found loving homes for each one. The two black ones went to the same home. By now they are all gone to the Rainbow Bridge but they are always in my heart and never forgotten. I'll always love them.
