Mrs. Ruth Mildred Patterson Clay, 81, of Rome, formerly of Noyes Street, Cedartown, passed away Friday, August 27, 2004. She was born June 25, 1923 in Polk County. She is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Clay and parents, John Elliot Patterson and Julie Ann Driver Patterson. Survivors include: daughters, Delilah Hindmon of Powder Springs and Dolleen Carter of Rome; sons, Douglas Wayne Clay of Cedartown, Daniel Virgil Clay of White, Ga., David Nelson Clay of Buchanan and Donathan Craig Clay of Fort Mill, S.C.; and sister, Mary Williams of Rome. Sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. Interment followed in Northview Cemetery. Pallbearers included John Clay, Jeff Clay, Kirt Clay, Jimmy Hampton, Kevin Hindmon and David Greer. The Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
