Leota G. Stevenson, 76, Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away Saturday, September 4, 1999, at her home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, at Providence Baptist Church, near Liberty, MO; burial in Providence Cemetery. Friends may all 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, at ChurchArcher-Pasley Funeral Home, Liberty.
Leota was born May 9, 1923, in Clay County, MO, to Phillip and Maggie Martin Bosley. She married James J. Stevenson on July 13, 1939. Mrs. Stevenson worked at William Jewell College in the housekeeping department for 10 years, retiring in 1985. She was a charter member of the VFW Post 4043 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Stevenson was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother; her husband, James, in 1974; two daughters; a son; a granddaughter; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law; and agreatgrandson. She is survived by three sons, James C. Stevenson and wife, Joann, Troy, NC, John T. Stevenson Sr. and wife, Alice, Excelsior Springs, MO, Phillip R. Stevenson and wife, Betty, Gladstone, MO; two daughters, Nita Holtzclaw and husband, Tony, and Linda Stevenson, all of Excelsior Springs, MO; 34 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.
