Lola Mae Fischer, age 91, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 2:30 pm on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Tri-County Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Waters Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Hoehn and Brother Kenny Haddock will officiate the burial following the service at Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation celebrating Lola Mae Fischer will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, April 8, 2022 at Waters Funeral Home.

Lola was born on January 21, 1931, in Percy, Illinois. She was the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Snider) Deppe.

She was united in marriage to Roy H. Fischer on October 1, 1949, in Cutler, Illinois. He survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Barry (Marlene) Fischer of Vandalia, Dale (Carol) Fischer of Vandalia, and Dwight (Mary Beth) Fischer of Ashburn, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Angela Fischer of Vandalia, Stephanie (Dane) Fischer of Perry, Curtis (Michelle) Fischer of Jefferson City, Kyle Fischer of Vandalia, Caitlin Fischer of Chicago, Illinois, Ryan Fischer of Ashburn, Virginia, and Joseph Fischer of Ashburn, Virginia; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Vera Sternberg of Steeleville, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, R. Douglas Fischer; and sister, Lois Habermann.

Lola was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1948 at Campbell Hill Community High School. She worked as a telephone switch operator for General Telephone in Sparta, IL from 1947 to 1949 and she drove a school bus for Van-Far High School from 1980 to 1993.
Lola's biggest love was her family. She was a true domestic caretaker, enjoying gardening, canning, and spending time outdoors. Lola had a green thumb and would grow the most beautiful flowers.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Fischer, Kyle Fischer, Caitlin Fischer, Ryan Fischer, Joseph Fischer, and Dane Power.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a place of the donors choice, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
