Lynn Carlysle Kester

Lynn Carlysle Kester, 93, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Larry Payne, pastor of Coulter Road Baptist Church, officiating. Masonic rites will be by Hereford Masonic Lodge Post 849. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mr. Kester was born in San Angelo and moved to Hereford in 1935 from Sudan. From 1935 to 1973, he owned Kester's Jewelry in Hereford. He moved to Amarillo in 1986.

He had been a member of Hereford Masonic Lodge Post 849, where he also served as a past master. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Khiva Shrine, serving as district deputy grand master of district 100 in 1965. He had served in the Texas National Guard.

Mr. Kester was a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church.

He married Katherine Findley in 1933 at Sudan.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathlyn Walls of Amarillo and Carolyn Allmon of De Soto; a son, Bill Kester of Amarillo; a sister, Nell Culpepper of Hereford; a brother, Hal Kester of Seattle; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
