Ronald Richard Fritz was born on July 4, 1943, to Carl Lloyd Fritz and Ruth (Reed) Fritz in Fremont, Nebraska. Ronnie grew up in Fremont until the age of 10, then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, with his family for a few years. Around the age of 17, he moved with his parents back to Lincoln, Nebraska.

Ronnie worked various jobs in his younger days, including washing dishes for Walgreens at their restaurant/grill, for which he received a 10-year service award. He also worked at a Lincoln grocery store, bagging groceries.

Ronnie moved into Region 5 services in the mid-1990's, living in Beatrice, and in Crete, Nebraska. He looked forward to going to the workshop each day and helping with various activities such as selling popcorn, and supervising yardwork at the group home. He loved joking around with friends and staff members at the workshop.

He had a remarkable memory and could recall dates, addresses, names and phone numbers, and details about cars. He loved All-Star wrestling, Husker football, bowling, car races, fishing, and finding coins with a metal detector. He enjoyed going to church and going out to eat, he loved coffee and pecan pie, and participating in the Special Olympics. He was very sociable and loved talking to complete strangers when visiting Walmart.

Ron passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Bryan West hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ruth; siblings Lloyd Fritz, Naomi Williams, and Donna Zaugg. Ron is survived by sister and brother-in law, Shirley and J.R.
