Katherine Kirt "Kitty" Hash, of Lynchburg died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999 in Medical Care Center. Her husband was the late Porter E. Hash. Born in Massie's Mill, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances Norma Kirby Kirt. She was retired from General Electric and was an active member of the Church of the Covenant. Formerly a long time member of Massie's Mill Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Hash was one of the first women to serve as an elder in the Presbyterian Church. She was a very active worker with the Youth of Massie's Mill Presbyterian Church and was a Camp Mother with Camp Kum Ba Yah for more than two decades. Surviving are her two sons and their wives, Carl D. and Joyce L. Manfield of Lynchburg and Russell Wayne and Judy O. Hash of Hampton; one sister, Geraldine Baldwin of Afton; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; four nieces and eight nephews. Funeral services will be conducted today, 1 p.m. at Diuguid Rivermont Chapel by the Rev. Beverly R. Cosby and the Rev. Peter G. Cosby, III. Interment will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery, Nelson County. Those who wish may consider memorials to the Diabetes Foundation or Camp Kum Ba Yah.
