Donny was born in Waterbury on October 13, 1951, son of the late Robert and Madeline (Codianne) LaPlante. Having grown up in Waterbury, Donny attended Waterbury Public Schools before he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army, during the Korean War. Throughout the years, Donny owned and operated several businesses in Waterbury from restaurants to night clubs, including one he was particularly proud of, the Trepid Fox. Donny had a love for music, including his hobby of collecting records, but found his greatest joy spending time with his family and grandchildren. Donny was also an avid N.Y. Yankee Fan, loved traveling to the casino with his siblings, and always looked forward to weekly Thursday night dinners at the Italian American Civic Club in Waterbury.
Donny leaves his children William E. LaPlante and his wife Lisa of Plymouth, Donald P. LaPlante and Miriam Cappas of Waterbury, Brandon C. LaPlante of Waterbury, Angel M. LaPlante and her fiancée Jeff Albert of Wolcott, his two grandchildren Chase and Mason LaPlante, and his former wife, Judy Ann (Gelish) LaPlante. He also leaves behind his siblings, Rose Marie Vacca of FL, Robert LaPlante of FL, Irene Weaver and her husband Ronald of Waterbury, Lana Stanco of Waterbury, Joann Jeanette of FL, Ronald LaPlante and his wife Diane of Waterbury, Lori-Lee Cocchiola of FL, Rox-anne Willis and her husband Bruce of FL, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers William LaPlante, Raymond LaPlante and his sister, Ramona LaPlante.
