Linda Deshazo Barnett
September 9, 1947 — April 8, 2022


Linda Robinson DeShazo Barnett of Columbus, passed away on April 8 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was 74 years old. Linda is predeceased by her husband Thomas Bruce Barnett, Jr., her father Kenneth David Robinson, her mother Mae Elizabeth Robinson, and her sister Vannie Lee Cameron.

Born in West Point, MS September 9, 1947, Linda was known as an avid equestrian and musician. Linda attended the University of Mississippi, and the Mississippi University for Women. She became a teacher before moving to Memphis, TN where she became a registered nurse. Linda moved home in 1979 and began a dedicated nursing career in the operating room at Golden Triangle Regional Medical Center (now Baptist Medical Center Golden Triangle). She retired from Baptist as the O.R. Materials Manager in 2013.

Linda and her late husband Bruce enjoyed spending time on the Tombigbee waterway with their friends and family. They made a home near Tibbee Creek and spent their days there boating, camping, cheering on her Ole Miss Rebels, and enjoying their lives together.

Linda is survived by sons Robert Neill (Robie) DeShazo, Jr. and his wife Wanda, Cameron Clay DeShazo and his wife Megan, stepdaughters Kimberly Simmons, her husband Keith, and Tina Barnett, sister Sara Heredia, grandchildren Robert Neill (Trey) DeShazo, III, William (Will) DeShazo, Morgan Mendenhall, Landon Purvis, Cameron (Cam) DeShazo, Jr., Duncan DeShazo, Mary (Mia) Deshazo, and Elizabeth (Ellie) DeShazo, great-grandchildren Savannah Trevallion, Oliver Trevallion, Henry Mendenhall, Zach Simmons, and Wyatt Simmons, nephews Kenneth Heredia, William Cameron, and niece Tammy Jenkins.

Visitation will be held 1-1:45 PM on Tuesday April 19th at Robinson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2 PM at Greenwood Cemetery and a celebration of life to be held at Magnolia at The Ritz in West Point following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
