PORTLAND – June Elizabeth Lund Bigelow, 92, of Portland, N.Y., went home to be with Jesus peacefully, Friday evening, April 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 7, 1929, and raised in Busti, N.Y., by her parents, the late Victor and Mollie (Waite) Lund.
Left to cherish the precious memories are her eleven children; six daughters: Pat (Bob) Straccamore of N. Tonawanda, N.Y., Joyce Thomas and Ruthie Lamer of Virginia Beach, Va., Robin (Fleury) Richmond of Forestville, N.Y., Beth (Gary) of Dunkirk, N.Y., Brenda (Paul) of Edinboro, Pa., and her five sons: John D. Bigelow Jr. of Brocton, N.Y., Paul Bigelow of Portland, N.Y., Brian Bigelow of Tampa, Fla., Bruce Bigelow of Brocton, N.Y., and David (Kelly) Bigelow of Mayville, N.Y.
Mrs. Bigelow is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Priscilla Lund of Busti, N.Y.; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive.
Mrs. Bigelow will always be remembered for her exemplary, loving Christian character and service to her family and friends, and all she knew in life.
In addition to her parents, June was predeased in death by her husband of 49 years, John D. Bigelow Sr.; and her four sisters and two brothers.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, April 13 2022, from 6-9 p.m. at the Brocton Baptist Church, 33 West Main St., Brocton, N.Y., and there again on Thursday, April 14 2022 from 10 until 11 a.m. where funeral services will begin with Pastor Larry Morrison and the Rev. Roy Ferguson of Busti, N.Y. officiating.
Interment will be held immediately follwing the service at the Portland Evergreen Cemetry in Portland, N.Y.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the many caregivers and nurses who lovingly cared for mother especially Susan Conklin.
