Agnes "Aggie" Francis Czapla, age 88, of Gary Indiana passed away on Wednesday April 8th 2022. She died peacefully of natural causes in her apartment at Belvedere Senior Housing, in the company of friends and family.

Agnes was born in East Chicago, Indiana on November 5th, 1933. She was one of five children born to Michael Czapla and Mary Mayza. She graduated from Bishop Knoll High School class of 52. Agnes worked at White Advertising and Permanights in Demotte Indiana in the late 60's early 70's until moving to Gary with her 5 children in the late 70's. She made many friends while working for The Mansards in Griffith In. Her happiest moments were spent cleaning for the people of the mansards and working as a bagger at Wiseway Foods where she retired after 17 years.

Agnes loved her family and treated everyone she met as if they were her very own. That love was not wasted but lavished on everyone including friends, step children, neighbors and especially the staff at Belvedere. She was a fun grandmother, great grandmother and loving mother-in-law She spent her later years watching Hallmark movies and making puzzles with her friends and family. She always made sure the staff at Belvedere and her children fed her birds so she could enjoy watching them out her window. Everyone at Belvedere remembers her for her funny jokes, smiles and sharing peach tea and treats.

Mother was 'God Loving and strong'. Her motto was 'we didn't have a lot of money but we have a lot of love' and 'smile and the whole world smiles with you'.

She was a beloved mother of 6 children.
She is preceded in death by her first husband John Szmuc, second husband Calvin (Dick) Vickery, and partner of 17 years, Richard Koscielski.
