Dixie Lee Bundy, 67, of the Big Hill Community of Lee County, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022. She was born on May 15, 1954, in Hazard, Kentucky.
Dixie was a fiercely dedicated mother and grandmother. Dixie served the citizens of Lee County for many years as a nurse, starting at Lee County Community Hospital and then making her way to Stone Mountain Health Services.
Dixie truly loved her family, especially her sons, grandkids, and furry companion, Minnie. Her absence leaves a hole that is impossible to fill.
She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Foster; husband, Oakley Bundy Jr; son, Phillip Wade Bundy; sister, Hattie Faye Vernon; brother, James Douglas Foster; daughter-in-law, Melissa Bundy.
She is survived by her mother, Katherine Foster; sons, Christopher Bundy, Brent Bundy and wife Brandi; grandchildren, Kylee Haley and husband Alex, Bradley Bundy, Brynna, Brayden, & Braylee Bundy; brothers, Chester Foster and wife Janet, David Foster; sisters, Wanda Posey and husband Billy, Barbara Austin and husband Robert, Stephanie Wilder and husband David; a very special friend Lucy Rogers; also, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A huge thank you for the care she received by Dr. Couch and the staff at Lee County Community Hospital.
Visitation for Dixie will be Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 12p.m. – 2p.m. at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, VA. Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. with Pastor Brian Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
