There are numerous stories posted on Ancestry regarding his military service and death, including selections from AN ARKANSAS PIONEER FAMILY, a Passage from History of Pope Co., Arkansas written by Mrs. Bunyan Webb & a newspaper clipping titled, Account of Col. G. W. LeMoyne of Steamer Cambridge sinking on 23 Feb 1862 printed in the Arkansas true Democrat (Little Rock, Ark.) March 13, 1862, Page 1.

This author is the 2nd great grandniece of Elizabeth Lemley-Webb-Linton-Tate. I have been unable to verify Mr. Webb's date of death or if he or his brother-in-law, Andrew Lemley, were on board the Steamship Cambridge, February 23, 1862 when it became snagged on a tree in the White River and killed 37-47 men. My sources are included here. Mr. Webb's family is welcome to assume ownership of this memorial and correct errors.
