Miss Belle Worth Bagley, sister of Mrs. Josephus Daniels, wife of the United States Ambassador to Mexico died yesterday at her residence, 2153 California Street Northwest.
Member of an old Southern family, Miss Bagley was a sister of Worth Bagley, who as an Ensign on the U.S.S. Winslow was the first United States Naval officer to die in service in the Spanish American War.
Miss Bagley was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and was graduated from Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and the Boston Conservatory of Music. For many years she had been employed as an expert statistician at the Bureau of Mines.
She had experienced the rare honor of christening a United States war vessel, the U.S. Destroyer Bagley, named after her brother.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Daniels are a brother, Admiral David Worth Bagley, Commandant of the Mare Island Navy Yard and a sister, Miss Ethel Bagley of this city.
Services will be held at 5PM today at Gawler Chapel, 1756 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest and burial will be at Raleigh.
