Chisago County Press - undated transcription:

Burial rites were conducted in Almelund at 2 pm today for the remains of Mrs Hanna Mohn wife of John Mohn and another of the old Swedish settlers of that vicinity who passed away after a lingering illness last Sunday afternoon.

The service took place at the family home in Almelund, Rev Oscar Sandahl of Center City officiating. Interment was in the Chisago Lake Cemetary, Mrs. Mohn having been a member of the Center City Congregation for about 50 years.

Pallbearers were Andrew Reed, John Nelson, John Holm, Nels Ryberg, Francis Berglund, and Frank Danielson.

Having endured failing health and strength for at least two years, Mrs. Mohn, became confined to the sickbed until the time of her passing. For several weeks she was nursed by a daughter, Hilma Mohn of St Paul, who arrived home some time ago to live with her parents. The end came quietly at 2:30 pm Sunday, February 20, after she had attained the age of over 74 years.

Mrs Hanna Mohn was born on August 7, 1852 in Hoby parish, Borabygd, Blekinge, Sweden. She was the daughter of Lars and Kersting Bangtson and was raised, confirmed, and given her early education in Sweden. With two brothers, both of whom are still living, she came to America in October 1876. She arrived in Chisago City, where her father had already resided for some time and worked to provide a home for the family. About one year later her mother and younger sister also came over from the old country and joined the family.

On November 4, 1877, she was united in marriage to John Mohn and the couple made their home on the farm in Amador township, about one mile south of the Almelund settlement where a son, August Mohn, now resides. There they lived about 40 years and nine years ago removed to Almelund where the aged couple built another residence.

Besides the aged and sorrowing husband, five children, 10 grandchildren, two brothers and one sister survive. The children are Hilma Mohn of St Paul, Mrs. W. T. Quarn who resides at Almelund, Mrs. Chas Ryberg, also of the Amelund vicinity, and August Mohn now on the home farm. Another son died about 10 years ago. The brothers and sisters still living are Alfred Bentson of Chisago City, Bernie Bentson of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Andrew Allenson of Spring Lake, MN.
