A 1943 graduate of Sunset High School, she worked as a bookkeeper for several companies in Dallas including Westinghouse, Braniff Airways, and Sunny Isle Manufacturing Co. She lived in Dallas, Edgewood and Waco prior to moving to Tyler in 1988, and was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by son, Phillip Ervin Haygood; an infant daughter, four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ervin L. "Pete" Haygood, a daughter, a son, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
