Mr. Gerald Walter Day, 83, of Sylvester, died on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at his residence.

The memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with full military honors. Dr. Jason Jones will officiate.

Mr. Day was born on August 8, 1938 in Coweta County, GA., to the late Julius Walter and Annie Lou Weaver Day. He had lived in Worth County since 1967 and was a veteran having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Day would later go on to retire from the United States Navy after a very successful career where he was a Lieutenant Commander. He was also formerly employed with Seabrook Peanut Company where he was a plant engineer. Mr. Day enjoyed golfing and fishing, but most importantly spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his daughters, Robbie Collier (Gyn) of Sylvester, and Julie Stover (Charlie) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Michael Stover, Jennifer Stover, Amanda Stover, Meghan Collier, and Hannah Collier; great grandchildren, Ryder Mabrey, and James Collier; brother, Ned Day (Gail).

In addition to his parents, Mr. Day was preceded in death by his loving wife, Reba Wynell Day on July 4, 2018 and a brother, Terry Day.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
