Johnny Ballance, 68, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in the comforts of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wayne County on November 10, 1953, he was the son of the late Wade Junior and Thelma Sauls Ballance.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved in-laws, John Leonard and Cora Elizabeth Mullins.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Frances Ballance; daughter, Debra Ballance Byrd and husband, Doug; sons, Jeffrey Ballance and wife, Carmen and Robert Ballance and wife, Erin; grandchildren, Britt Wall (Kayla), Brooke Wall, Sadie Ballance, Jaxon Ballance, Kristopher Cruz-Cobb, Zachary Cruz-Cobb, Isabella Cruz-Cobb, Layla Ballance, Emmalee Ballance, Callen Ballance, Rebel Ballance, Ryott Ballance, and Legend Ballance; brothers, James Edward Ballance and wife, Terry and Steve Ballance; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Johnny was a dedicated and faithful member of Niagara Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kenly where he served in many capacities, most notably as a Bassist.

For many years Johnny worked as an industrial mechanic, retiring from GlaxoSmithKline. He also took great pride in working alongside his sons at Ballance Heating and Air.

Johnny was a jack of all trades. He loved tinkering and working on any and everything. Johnny had a knack for restoring old cars. He was currently working on restoring a 1973 Chevy Nova as a 50th wedding anniversary gift to Frances, the same make and model car they drove on their wedding day.

Johnny was a selfless man who always put his family and friends needs and wants above his own. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A service to celebrate Johnny's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service with his pastor, Rev. Michael Dye officiating. Interment will follow at the Eureka Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. during the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
