Funeral Services Held for Mrs. A. B. DeBord Thursday Afternoon
Funeral services for Mrs. A. B. DeBord, who passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 24, at her home in Princeville, following a second stroke of paralysis within a period of two months, were held at the M. E. church in Princeville on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. J. C. Craine officiating. Interment was in the Princeville cemetery.
Obituary
Harriet Eleanor Hawver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. P. Hawver, was born at Galva, Illinois, October 21, 1858 and died at Princeville, Illinois, February 24, 1931, aged 72 years, 4 months and 3 days.
When about five years old, she moved with her parents to what was then known as West Princeville, Illinois and in 1869, her family settled in Monica. Here she grew to young womanhood.
On March 14, 1882, she was united in marriage to A. B. DeBord of Princeville, Illinois. To this union one son and two daughters were born. Mr. and Mrs. DeBord followed the occupation of farming until the year of 1908, when they moved to Princeville, where they had since made their home.
One daughter, Mrs. Leatha Gingrich, having preceded her in death about ten years ago, Mrs. DeBord is survived by her husband, A. B. DeBord of this place; one son, Bryon DeBord, also of Princeville; and one daughter Mrs. Bessie Hale of Peoria, Illinois. She is also survived by one brother, George A. Hawver of Steubenville, Ohio; one sister Mrs. L. L. Hurd of Westmont, Illinois; and six grandchildren, who with a number of more distant relatives and a host of friends remain to mourn her passing.
The deceased was very active member of Union Grove Chapter No. 229 of the Order of Eastern Star in Princeville and of Judia Shrine No. 10 of the White Shrine in Peoria.
She was united with the Monica M. E. church on March 17, 1872 and was transferred to Princeville M. E. church in 1909 and remained a faithful member of that church until called to the "Church Triumphant."
Until her recent illness, Mrs. DeBord was a very active member of the Ladies' Aid Society and also of the Women's Bible Class of the M. E. church.
