Alan was born on March 21, 1960 in Coldwater, MI to Dean and Carol (Michielsen) Copas. On May 15, 1980, he married the love of his life, the former Dawn Kempton, at the First Baptist Church in Tekonsha. The couple resided in Tekonsha all of their married life. Alan was employed by Randall Beans, working his way up to plant manager and retiring after 41 years of dedicated service.
Always hardworking, Alan was fond of saying, "Don't put off 'til tomorrow what you can get done today." Still, he liked to have fun through golfing at Turtle Creek, hunting and fishing, camping, boating and playing disc golf at the Nazarene campground at Indian Lake in Vicksburg, playing Uno and Hand-in-Foot, doing woodworking and giving his dog rides on the golf cart. Alan's most enjoyable pastime was spending time with his family.
Left to cherish Alan's memory are his wife of 39 years, Dawn; his children, Jammi (John) Fuller of Vicksburg, Jennifer (Mike) Eisenberg of Tekonsha, Josh (Riesie Cox) Copas of Coldwater; his adopted son, Jerry Copas of Tekonsha; 16 grandchildren: Hayden, Harrison and Haley Eisenberg; Ethan and Daelyn Copas; Anthony, Jordon, Dustin, Shenira and Gabe Fuller; Elizabeth and Evan Cavinder; LeeAnn Haire; Zachary Dutton; Ashton and Angelina Knapp; and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Eylah Jones; several nieces and nephews; his brothers, David (Sheila) Copas of Burlington and Jimmy (Joy) Copas of Tekonsha; his uncles, David (Tina) Copas of Rice, TX, Kenneth (Linda) Copas of Kentucky, David (Denise) Michielsen of Battle Creek and Larry Casey of Tekonsha; and his favorite child, schweenie dog "Max." He was preceded in death by his parents.
