Barbara Lousie Shane Gourd went to be with her Savior Friday, April 1, 2022, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Barbara was born in Sherman, TX on December 5, 1939 to parents Roy Lee Shane and Naomi Louise (Brinlee) Shane. She was a proud Texan through and through and loved the years and family she had there. She was a graduate of Sherman High School in 1958 and of Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri, in 1961.

She met her husband, George Gourd, when she was still in high school, and he was the love of her entire life. They were married for 61 years. George and Barbara spent many years traveling and working in the Northeast United States together, but Tulsa was their home, where they raised four children. Barbara was an active member of her churches: Tulsa Baptist Temple and South Lakewood Baptist of Tulsa. Her faith was one of the most important things in her life.

Barbara's favorite place in the world was 5736 East 21 Street in Tulsa, which was affectionately called "Mommo's house" by her family. It was a place they all knew they could go to lay on the den floor and eat a half gallon of Blue Bell ice cream side-by-side with her, without judgment. Barbara was always only a phone call away to listen to anyone share their news or troubles. She was always a cheerleader to her kids and grandkids in their accomplishments and meant it when she said she would pray for you.

Barbara was an excellent neighbor, taking great care to get to know, serve, and witness to those in her community both at home and church. She was excellent at playing "crack the egg" on the trampoline, and teaching her grandchildren a variety of beloved songs such as Froggy Went A-Courtin'. You could always be sure to find her reading and drinking coffee on the back deck every morning she was able, which instilled a love of coffee and reading in her family that is three generations strong.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her cherished sister Nancy, and beloved son Randy. Her family has great peace knowing she did not cross Jordan alone, but was greeted by so many loving faces.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, George Gourd, daughters Tracy Gourd Littledave, husband George; Leslie Morfitt, husband James; and son Greg Gourd, wife Beth; her grandchildren: Paige, Dakota, Nicole, Kelsey, Molly, Audrey, Jacob, Mauryn and Tristan; and great grandchildren Brayden, Eloise, Kennedy, and Isabel.
