Iola Ferne Clements, 97, of Hutchinson, died March 28, 2022, at Mennonite Friendship Communities. She was born February 24, 1925, in Davenport, Nebraska, to Cuthbert and Cordie (Snyder) Miller.

Iola graduated from Davenport High School in 1942, and then earned her teaching certificate. Before she was married, she taught in a one room country schoolhouse for two years. Iola and her husband moved to Kansas in 1956. She retired from Hutchinson Hospital, where she was supervisor of the linens and laundry department. Iola enjoyed quilting, sewing, and playing piano. She loved to go camping and fishing with her husband and they enjoyed spending their winters in Texas.

On May 28, 1944, Iola married Lyle G. Clements, in Davenport, Nebraska. They shared 62 years together before he passed away on May 1, 2007.

She is survived by: daughters, Rita Connell (Bill), Ruth Schletzbaum (John), Silverdale, Washington; son, Marvin Clements (Faye), Olathe; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Iola was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Lyle Clements; daughter, Yvonne Cope; son-in-law, Mike Cope; one sister; and brother.

Funeral service will be 10 am Monday, April 4, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call from 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and 1 to 8 pm Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary with the family present from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday.
