LaRaine Hyrum Farnsworth, 67, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022, peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer.

He was born March 16, 1955, in St. George, Utah to Melvin Truman and Loretta Cox Farnsworth.

He married Ada Marie White on July 12, 2009, and they were sealed for time and eternity in the St. George Temple on December 17, 2016.

LaRaine comes from a long line of St. George natives, graduating from Dixie High School before joining the U.S. Army in 1974. He drove tanks and earned a Sharpshooter badge as well as receiving a National Defense Service Medal for his time of service. Upon discharge, he returned to St. George working in the construction industry, mainly as a home builder, skilled in multiple trades.

Upon retirement, he still always had a house project under way and spent countless hours canning food for storage. His grandkids, nieces, and nephews adored him and always wanted to sleepover to help with projects and tend to the goats. LaRaine loved spending time with family the most, especially his grandkids. Rarely without his long, silver beard, at Christmas you could often find him dressing up as Santa for his grandkids and volunteering at different community events.

In his healthier years he enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, panning for gold, and shooting guns. He had a love of collecting animals and was usually found with a treat in his pocket for the goats or dogs. If anyone needed to rehome a pet, they called LaRaine and he would take them in, sometimes to the surprise of his wife.

He is survived by his wife Ada of Central, Utah; children from previous marriages: David (Ana) Farnsworth of McMinnville, Oregon and Alicia Bartlett of St. George, Utah; Michael (Lisa) Farnsworth of St. George, Utah; stepchildren: Jared Hayward of St. George, Utah; Danyelle (Glenn) Evans of Washington, Utah and children adopted through love and friendship: Eniola (Hollis) Morgan; siblings: Dixie Lister of Paragonah, Utah; Allen (Patty) Cannon of Pine Valley, Utah; Jerry Cannon of Pahrump, Nevada; Melvin B Farnsworth of Central, Utah; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Loretta; son, James Farnsworth; and brother-in-law, Allan Lister.

Interment will take place in the Central Cemetery, N Cedar Drive, Central, UT 84722.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Esplin for the many years of excellent care and Angela with Zions Way Hospice along with their church family for the compassionate acts of service and continued support.
