Eileen Jane (Koetje) Brussee passed from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at the age of 86. Her children were present in-person and virtually as she drew her final earthly breaths.

Eileen Jane Koetje was born January 10, 1935 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Eileen attended Christian elementary and high schools in Kalamazoo. On May 6, 1955, Grover Brussee and Eileen, high-school sweethearts, were married. At the time of Grover's passing to glory in 2018, Eileen and Grover were married 63 years. Eileen is lovingly remembered by her children Lori (and Steve) Ryan, Pam (and Dave) Landheer, Mike Brussee, and Steve (and Joan) Brussee; by nine grandchildren; and by three great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law Gene Brussee, Sharon Brussee, Jan DeBoer, and Bertha VerHey also survive her.

Eileen served her Lord in her earthly life. She was faithful in membership, attendance, and involvement in First Christian Reformed Church and its successor, Heritage Christian Reformed Church, where she played the organ for nearly six decades. At home, Eileen was devoted to Christian home and family. As pastimes, she enjoyed tennis with Grover and family friends, legendary success and beauty in her landscape and vegetable gardening, and hosting of innumerable family get-togethers around the swimming pool. All memories of Eileen are of a loving, warm, and charitable wife, mother, and grandmother.

Eileen's children are forever grateful to the caregivers at the Springs at the Fountains of Bronson Place for their kindness and compassion, for treating our mom as a member of their family. They were often her only touch-of-a-human-hand during the pandemic. Mom had special relationships with Jennifer Wilke and Jean Wallace (her roommate) for which we are thankful. Thank you also to Senior Care Partners PACE for years of personal attention. And thank you most sincerely to Melissa of Hospice of Southwest Michigan for helping mom through her last earthly hours.

A celebration of Eileen's life will be held on March 13, 2021 at Heritage Christian Reformed Church, 2857 South 11th St., Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49009 - visitation at 10:00 AM, celebration at 11:00 AM. Donations in memory of Eileen may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at http://fightcf.cff.org/goto/ebrussee or by mail to 2265 Livernois Rd., Suite 410, Troy, Michigan 48083.
