The news of the death of Mrs. Josephine Adams Perry, widow of the late Gen. Alexander J. Perry, U.S.A., retired, which occurred in Washington city Sunday, will be learned with sincere regret in Augusta. Mrs. Perry had an attack of acute indigestion Tuesday, which developed into pneumonia, and death came Sunday, January 21st, in the 80th year of her age.
Mrs. Perry was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John M. Adams, of Augusta. She was born and reared here and only moved away when she married General Perry. Since her husband's retirement she has made her home in Washington city. Her son, Capt. Alexander W. Perry, U.S.A., retired, made his home with his mother, who died Thursday of last week.
Mrs. Perry is survived by her sister, Mrs. Harriet Adams Ganahl, and her brother, Mr. John M. Adams, of Summerville. Mr. Adams and Mr. Joseph Ganahl will attend the funeral services in Washington, and she will be laid to rest in Arlington between her distinguished husband and son who preceded her to the great beyond.
Mrs. Perry was an exceptionally gifted and delightful woman - one whose culture and experience made her a charming companion and was equally at home in the company of young people as the older generation. She was prominent in the social world, both in Washington and here, where she had so many family connections and old friends, and the news of her death will be learned with most sincere sorrow.
