Aaron Gideon Moncrief was born October 4, 1871 in Macon County, Missouri. He departed this life at his home in La Plata and was 70 years, 9 month and 8 days old at the time of his death. He was the son of Robert Wilson and Matilda Moncrief.
On October 24, 1893 he was united in marriage to Willie May Francis. To this union three children were born, Mrs. Nina Waters of Marceline, Missouri, Roy R. of Halstead, Kansas and Louise of Brookfield, Missouri.
Besides these who mourn his passing are his wife; four brothers, Garrett, Joe, Bob and Doc, all of La Plata, Missouri; one grandson, Ted Raymond Moncrief of Wichita, Kansas; a step-daughter, Mrs. Dessie Hayden of Overton, Kentucky; a step-son, Elmer Francis of Novelty; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. A granddaughter, Peggy Lou Fleshman, preceded him in death.
Early in life he became a member of the Christian Church at Hazel Dell later, with his wife, moving his membership to this church and was a member here at the time of his death.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church Monday afternoon.
