Merle Maxine Stokes passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 13, 1909. Merle was married to Charles Stokes, Sr. who passed away in 1985. Merle and Charles were married for 55 years. She is survived by sons, Charles Raymond Stokes, Jr. (Audrey)of Oceanside and Edward L. Stokes (Margaret) of El Cajon; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; her brother, Pat Jones (Evelyn) of Carlsbad. She was predeceased by husband of 55 years, Charles Raymond Stokes, Sr.; sisters: Dorothy Martin and Cody Sunstedt; brothers: Harry Jones and Gilbert Jones. A funeral service and burial was held Thursday, June 18th at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Oceanside.
