Jacob Franklin Cox Sr., age 68, of Greeneville, passed away Tuesday at his home.

He retired from T.I. Automotive and attended Mt. Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years: Mitzi Cox; one daughter: Elizabeth Cox; one son: Jacob Franklin Cox Jr.; grandsons: Tanner Brock Hensley and friend, Alexandra Manolache, and Isaak Blake Cox; granddaughter: Brooklyn Mary-Ann Hensley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Perry Lynn and Geraldine Smelcer, Margie and Charlie Starnes; nephews and niece: Eric Starnes, Angelia Starnes, Tim Meadows, and Mark Meadows; one great-nephew: Jackson Britton.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Leon Cox; brother: Ivan Cox; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Perry Fred and Mary Ann Smelcer.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 o'clock Friday evening in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dwayne Steele and the Rev. Dennis Daugherty officiating.
