Wallace "Gene" Eugene Hughes, 84 of Pine Bluff passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at Trinity Village Medical Center.

He was born July 26, 1937 in Bastrop, LA to the late Jim Bob "J.B." and Mary Blanche Wallace Hughes.

Gene was a member of Pine Bluff First Assembly of God, where he was a deacon, very active with men's ministry, was a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, member of the cook team and member of Light for the Lost. He was a millwright for International Paper and retired after 43 years. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at I.P. and was a member of the I.P. Retiree Group. He was a loving family man and an avid hunter and fisherman.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Dawn George Hughes; and 2 sons, Jim Hughes and Jeffery Lynn Hughes.

Survivors include a son, Terry Hughes of Pine Bluff; daughter, Sharon (David) Crossett of Centerton; 2 sisters, Mary Lou Travis of Hilton Head, SC and Noweeda Henderson of Monroe, LA; 7 grandchildren, Kyle (Heather) Hughes of Fayetteville, Brooke (Michael) Driver of Broken Arrow, OK, Katie (Brad) Caldwell of Atkins, Sarah Hughes of Hot Springs, Bethanne (Brett) Williams of Grand Prairie, TX, Seth Hughes of Pine Bluff, and Matthew Hughes of Star City; 7 great-grandchildren, Sophi Hughes, Barrett Hughes, Brady Hughes, Caleb Driver, Cade Driver, Allie Jo Caldwell, and David Caldwell.

Funeral services are 11:00AM Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Pine Bluff First Assembly of God with Pastor Gary Bell and Pastor Pat Hart officiating

. Visitation is 9:00-11:00AM Tuesday at the church.

Burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Star City.

Pallbearers are Larry Spadoni, Kyle Hughes, Matthew Hughes, Seth Hughes, Jim Ellingburg, Michael Driver, Brett Williams, and Brad Caldwell.

Honorary pallbearers are Bob Porter, Cornelious Callaway, and Bob Keahey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: the fund of your choice at Pine Bluff First Assembly of God, 1002 Ridgway Rd., Pine Bluff, AR 71603.
