John married Mary A. 'Mamie' Dever on Sep. 3, 1876 at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Lambertville.
They had a son James, but tragically he died at age 8 months. They never had any more children.
John was a distinguished looking man.
He was an electrician for the railroads. He invented a signalling system for the train towers, but someone else took the credit and got the patent on it.
Later in life John lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and then Jersey City.
He died on the job after his legs were severed by a drill engine.
A shaving mug with his name on it has been passed down in his sister-in-law's family.
