She was a 1955 graduate of Savannah High School. After graduation, she began her career at Bellsouth, later AT&T, where she worked for 36 years in Atlanta, Orlando, and Savannah. After her retirement, she volunteered with the Wilmington Island United Methodist Church and the Agape Circle. She was predeceased by her parents, Emma Lucile Adams McAllister and Robert Lee McAllister; husband of 47 years, Robert Cameron; two sisters, Ann Mock and Jane Adams; and two brothers, Dale McAllister and Robert Lee McAllister, Jr. She was known as "Aunt Babs" to her nieces and nephews: Greg Hutcheson of Vidalia, Ron (Victoria) Mock of Mt. Vernon, Don (Joanna) Mock of Ailey, Darrell (Rae) Adams of Greensboro, NC, Lisa (Frank) Hardymon of Atlanta, Leigh (Scott) Spooner of Suwanee, Melinda (Steve) Rodgers of Crawfordville, FL, and Robert McAllister, III of Statesboro. Surviving are her sister, Gale M Tidwell of Suwanee, GA; and first cousins Melba Priestly, Mary Rose Terry, Maxine Conner, and Helen Lane.
