U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class Sammy "Alex" Foy Ballard (Retired), 71, of Enola passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 surrounded by family in Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill.

He was born on September 14, 1950 in Statesboro, Georgia to the late Sidney Foy Ballard and the late Lois (Sherrod) Ballard.

Alex graduated from Marvin Pittman High School, Statesboro in the Class of 1969.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy upon graduation from high school and served honorably until his retirement in 1989.

In addition to his parents, Sammy was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Gladys Ballard; and, his daughter-in-law: Heather Ballard.

He is survived by his son: Robert "Rob" Ballard; his granddaughter: Zoey Lesher; his
step-daughters: Debbie Oakley, Thresa Cyr, Renee Ketchum, and Cindy Cyr - Bishop; his step-sons: Garry Cyr and Raymond Cyr; and, his sisters: Charlotte Laircey and Angie Brannen.

The service and burial will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 10:30 AM.
