John David Forbes, 65, passed away March 22, 2022 in Millcreek, UT. John was born July 10, 1956 to John and Donna Forbes in San Diego, California. John married Jeannette Evans in 1985 and had their son, Bryan. John was previously married and had two children, Austin and Shana.

John was a third-generation graduate at the University of Utah, antedated by Helen Warenski (grandmother) and John Forbes Sr. (father). He achieved a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, becoming a member of the first graduating class 1978. John loved his work as a software engineer. His passion and inspiration for his work originated from observing accomplishments in a relatively new field performed by his uncles David and Fred Forbes.

A variety of hobbies were shared by John. He loved anything with a motor on it. He enjoyed owning, fixing, and modifying many cars throughout it his life (too many if you ask his wife Jeannette). Three of his favorite vehicles were his 2008 GT500 Cobra Mustang, 1970 Corvette Stingray, and several Camaros, which he always regretting selling. He also had a collection of every power tool imaginable for woodworking, metalworking, and stone masonry, a passion likely inherited by his Father's love for geology. Later in life, he discovered the joy of owning dogs. He was grateful for their unconditional love and ability to bring his family together. Lastly, John took great pleasure in cooking for people. Always making a large kitchen mess for us to begrudgingly cleanup. One of his favorite days of the week was Sunday where he would make a meal and enjoy it with loved ones.

John loved his family, friends, coworkers, and furry canine friends. He would happily dedicate his time without hesitation. Two days before passing, he was excited to work on his son's newly purchased house with him. His selfless personality will never be forgotten.

John was able to travel to San Antonio to visit with his daughter, Shana and son and son in law, John and his 3 grandchildren. He was able to watch the boys play baseball and loved every minute. He was thrilled to have his daughter in his life and grateful for the time they spent together.

Since December 2021, John spent the final months managing end stage liver disease. Eventually, his liver complications were too severe to manage. John was beside his wife Jeannette and son Bryan as he passed away peacefully.

John is survived by his wife Jeannete Forbes: his children Bryan Forbes and Shana Ruebsahm (John); and three grandchildren Luke, Rhett, and Holly Ruebsahm. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Donna, sister Barbara, and son Austin. He had uncles and cousins that he loved dearly.
