John was born in 1825 Perry County, Kentucky. This part of Perry County became Breathitt County in 1839. John died before the 1900 census as his wife Rebecca was listed as a widow. We have not been able to locate John's grave . It has to be in an unmarked grave in one of the cemeteries along Troublesome Creek in Clayhole or Hardshell, Kentucky. John married Rebecca Miller in 1848. John fought and was wounded in the Civil War. John's brother Isaac was in the same Company B. Isaac was killed in the Battle of Chickamauga in Georgia in 1863.
