James Edward Healer
March 25, 1946 - March 19, 2022

James Edward Healer of Greenville, Texas passed away on March 19, 2022 at the age of 75. He was born on March 25, 1946 to Francis Edward "F.E." and Mary Louise (Cook) Healer in Merkel, Texas. James grew up in Sweetwater, Texas where he graduated from Newman High School in 1964. He surrendered to the Gospel Ministry in 1965 and He was a 1971 graduate of North Texas State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Music Education. Mr. Healer served as a band director in Forney, Malakoff, Waxahachie, Troup, Anson, Ingram, and Roscoe, Texas.

While teaching in several of these towns, he also served as a bi-vocational minister of music and youth at his church.

In 1979, James earned a Master of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Brother James served as full time minister of music and education at churches in Centerville, Ohio; Midland, Texas and Kerrville, Texas.

In 1996 he began a new career path at Accenture (formerly Anderson Consulting) as a corporate trainer and quality control analyst until his retirement in 2013.

James was a true artist. He enjoyed anything that allowed him to express his creativity: writing and arranging music, painting, woodworking, writing poems and novels, and thinking about creative solutions to problems. But his favorite activities revolved around his children and grandchildren, to whom he passed on many of those gifts.

He is survived by his wife, LynDella "Judy" Healer of Greenville, Texas; sons, James Donald Healer and wife, Monica of McKinney, Texas; Jason Dale Healer and wife, Debbie of Fort Worth, Texas; and Jared Dwayne Healer and wife, Dana of Aubrey, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle Eric Healer, Collin Blake Healer, Justin Keith Healer, Andrew Paul Healer, Jacob Gabriel Healer, Daniel James Healer, Caleb Levi Healer, Anna Elisabeth Healer, Audrey Nadine Healer, and Clayton James Healer; brother and sisters, Frank Healer and wife, Janice of Potosi, Texas, Janie Davis and husband, Delbert of Sweetwater, Texas, Anita Jones and husband, Dearl of Nolan, Texas; Rebecca Healer of Richardson, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving family and friends.

Experiencing something I've never done before and not liking it...my big little brother, James Poppi Healer, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Saturday evening, March 19th, after a two-month battle with Covid. He fought hard, as did his family, but it was just too much to overcome. Within moments of his death, I'll bet he was already preparing for his first Sunday morning in Heaven, joining all those trumpets as they played in praise of our Lord and Savior.

James was my 2nd eldest brother, which is why I call him my "big little brother". He was three years younger than Frank Healer (our oldest sibling) and seven years older than me. He was also a good brother to our two younger sisters, Anita Healer Jones & Rebecca Healer. Lots of people either knew the Healer boys or Healer girls because of the 7-year difference between the boys and girls. But together, we were the five children of F. E. and Mary Louise Healer.

His 76th birthday is this Friday, March 25th. He was always protective of us girls while we were growing up, but still played a mean game of Army or Cowboys and Indians and loved baseball and band (drum major his Sr. year in 1963-1964 at SHS).

There wasn't much he couldn't do: musically (a former band director and worship leader who could play almost any instrument as well as write music), poetically (many, many poems to his credit), artistically (could paint anything onto canvas and could do some pretty good woodworking and remodeling projects without cutting too many body parts), was an author extraordinaire (published several books and stories), or with a computer (his last job before retirement), and loved his country. He also had lots of standard jokes and wise cracks that we had heard hundreds of times, but we always laughed anyway!

He was a good father to three boys (Jim Healer, Jason Healer and Jared Healer), a father-in-law who loved his "daughters" (Monica Teichroeb Healer, Debbie Moore Healer and Dana Kennedy Healer), an amazing "Poppi" to his 8 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, and a good husband and provider for his wife, Judy Herndon Healer, of 57 years.

While we are thinking about upcoming arrangements to honor his life (TBD), we can't help but think of all the lives he touched during his own life on this earth. I'm sure he's having the time of his life celebrating in Heaven with Dad, Mom, Hillary and all the other family members who have gone before us.

Save us a place, 'lil bro...we'll see you again! Love you.
