Ned J. Bowman, 60, 1529 Yale Ave., president of Ned J. Bowman, Co., investment brokerage firm, died of a cerebral hemorrhage Sunday at 11:30 pm. in a Salt Lake hospital.
Prominent in real estate and civic activites in the Intermountain area for many years, Mr. Bowman served as chairman of Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce civic improvement committee, and was an active member of the Chamber's industrial committee for many years.
He was president of Utah State Realty Assn. in 1946, and also served as regional vice president of National Assn. of Home Builders. He was a director Utah Home Builders Assn., Utah Apartment House Assn., and Salt Lake Real Estate Board.
Active in the building business when he was associated with Capson-Bowman Investment Co., Mr. Bowman was instrumental in construction of about 3,000 homes in Utah. He left that organization in 1949.
He was a charter member of the Ambassador Athletic Club, and had been a member of Salt Lake Lodge 85, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, for 30 years.
Mr. Bowman was born June 28, 1894, in Ogden, a son of Adolph and Lena Bowman. He married Rachel R. Herrick Oct. 21, 1914, in Ogden. She survives him.
Other survivors are three sons and daughter: Jack H., Ramon N. and K. Ralph Bowman and Mrs. Marion Thomas, Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren, and following brothers and sisters: Otto Bowman, Salt Lake City; George Bowman, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Miss Marion Bowman, San Francisco; Mrs. Helen Hull, Ely, Nev., and Mrs. Margaret Cave, Ogden.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Elks Lodge, 139 E. South Temple.
Friends may call at 574 E. 1st South Wednesday evening and at the Elks Lodge Thursday one-half hour prior to services.
