KNEW LINCOLN

Dr. Cobb, 30 Years a Wichita Physician Dead at 85 Years

Dr. Joseph Cobb, 85 years old, who knew Abraham Lincoln, and brother of ex-Congressman and ex-Chief Justice of Nebraska Amasa Cobb, died at his home, 822 East Douglas avenue, at 1 o'clock Friday morning, after an illness lasting over five years. For thirty years Dr. Cobb has been a practicing Wichita physician.

Dr. Cobb came to Wichita from Decatur, Ill. He was an ardent friend and admirer of Abraham Lincoln. He knew Mr. Lincoln personally and went to Springfield, Ill., to hear the Lincoln-Douglass (sic) debate. Dr. Cobb's brother, Amasa Cobb, was a congressman from Wisconsin before he moved to Nebraska. A few years ago the brother held the office of chief justice of the state of Nebraska.

Dr. Cobb leaves a wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Cobb, a practicing physician, and two daughters and two sons. The children are Mrs. A. E. McVicar, 706 North Topeka avenue; Mrs. E. H. Hartle, 1363 North Lawrence avenue; Warren Cobb, Ponca City, Okla., and William Cobb, an editor, of Smithville, Texas.

The funeral of Dr. Cobb will be held at Gill's undertaking parlors at 10 o'clock this morning. Rev. W. S. Priest ofthe Central Church of Christ will have charge of the services. The interment will be in Highland cemetery.
