Leona R. Albers, 92, of Hildreth, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Brookestone Gardens in Kearney.

Leona Regina (Fritson) Albers was born on December 2, 1929 in Macon, NE to Carl and Lena (Schnuerle) Fritson. Leona grew up in the Macon area and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended Macon Grade School and graduated from Franklin High School in 1947. After graduation, she taught in a Country School near Ash Grove.

She was united in marriage to Irvin R. Albers on July 31, 1949 at Zion Lutheran in Macon, and to this union three children were born: Gale, Allan and Darrel. The family made their home in Hildreth where she worked at the Albers family grocery store, before starting at Royal Plastics in Minden where she worked for over 30 years. Leona enjoyed spending time in her yard, tending to her flowers and gardening. She was known for being a great neighbor and having the best cookies, rusks and canned beef. Leona loved reading, spending time at the library, baking and sewing. She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Leona was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hildreth where she taught Sunday school. She later became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth where she was active in the quilting group and ladies circle. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW and Hildreth Library Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lena Fritson; husband, Irvin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mervin (Ardys) Fritson, Leon (Beverly) Fritson and Harold Adam.
